1) Bring a Laptop- One thing that has really helped me is my laptop from home. With a broadband connection I will
been able to watch tv, talk to friends, and do many other things on my laptop. I have found the Hanaro Cable modem is much
better than the KT DSL service in Jeonju. Acturally when I had KT DSL it really sucked. The DSL service would sometimes go
down for hours. Everyone I have talked to says KT DSL sucks, so do not get it.
2) Talking to friends and family back home- It is important to be able to talk to you friends and family. They
make Korea feel less lonely. There are 3 ways you can do this.
a) Through the computer- There are many ways you can do this. There are services that used to charge
money to do this, buy now Yahoo Messager and MSN Messager allow you to do this for free. What you need is a computers, a microphone,
and a pair of speakers. Then teach you friends and family how to use yahoo or msn. Then you will be able to talk to them through
the computer and the best thing is they will be able to see you if you have a webcam.
b. Through phone cards- There are a few places downtown that sell phone cards to call the usa, canada,
or europe. They are around 12000 to 14000 won and the minutes range based on the phone card.
c. Through broadband phones- Broadband phones are very nice and allow you to call home for
the same amount as a phone card. Broadband phone prices range from $14.00 a month for a minute plan to
$30.00 a month for unlimited calls. The best thing about a broadband phone service is you get a local phone number in
your country, so friends and family can call you at local rates. There are many different broadband phone
companies.

3. TV - Korea tv is much different than western tv. First of all most of the channels are in Korean and the few
english channels usually repeat the same english programs over and over. Also watching sports is hard too. This section is
the western tv guide.
a: Getting Tv from home: Believe it or not you can now get tv through the internet. All you need in Korea
is a broad internet connection and a computer. Here is how.
Slingbox - Is a device that cost about 249.00. This device will hook up to a cable box in the usa, canda, or uk and broadcast the tv
through a broadband connection through the internet. The only catch is you need to know someone who is willing to hook up
the slingbox to their cable tv and they must get an extra cable box. The slingbox will take over the cablebox so they must
put the slingbox on a seperate cable box unless they want to watch the same tv programs.
b) Getting Tv Through the internet.
Backspace Tv- The first true television service through the internet. They have up to 40 cable tv channels for $29.00 a month.

Grocery store. Now Cosco is not in Jeonju City it is 1 hour and 15 minutes away by train. Go to Jeonju Station and take the
train to Seoul Dajeon. Once you are at the Seoul Dajeon Train station, exit the station and turn to the left. Cosco is just
one short block up on the left. A Cosco yearly membership will cost 35000 won per year.
